Case of the Broken Beaker

Case of the Broken Beaker is an activity aimed at helping students explore the use of DNA profiling and gel electrophoresis. In this lab, students will use restriction enzymes and agarose gel electrophoresis to create a genetic profile.

Roundabout We Go

Our Roundabout lesson uses Drosophila melanogaster (fruit flies) to explore concepts surrounding neuroscience and how mutations in DNA lead to observable defects in living organisms.

The DNA Extraction lab is an activity developed to help student explore the scientific method. Students will extract DNA from a plant to determine whether or not it’s fruit is biotic.

Mystery of the Crooked Cell was developed to help students explore genetic diseases and tracing genetics through the use of Punnett squares and gel electrophoresis.
